Haleiwa Farmers’ Market North Shore Farm Tours begin this month by combining visits to four farms with a delicious lunch plucked fresh from the fields. The guided tours include talks with the farmers, crop tours and a taste of their bounty.

The all-day experience, designed to create a deeper appreciation of dedicated local farmers, is set for 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 and 26.

The Sept. 12 tour visits Waialua Estate Coffee, Twin Bridge Farms, North Shore Cattle Company and Mays Hydroponic Lettuce. Lunch will be served on the mountain at North Shore Cattle Co., prepared by ranch owner Ryan Lum. On the menu are grass-fed burgers, fresh grilled asparagus, peppers, onions, squash and eggplant, salad with papaya dressing and a coffee dessert.

The Sept. 26 tour stops at Sea Asparagus Marine Agrifuture, Tin Roof Ranch, Poamoho Organic Produce and Waialua Estate Cacao. Tin Roof Ranch offers a view into its chicken and egg operation. North Shore caterer Brigitte Moss will serve lunch overlooking the Poamoho Organic fruit orchards. The menu has Niçoise salad, pan-seared ahi, sea asparagus, hard-boiled eggs, green beans, tomatoes, potatoes and fresh parsley, a breadfruit salad, artisan bread and organic fruit dessert with chocolate sauce.

Passengers are asked to meet at 8:45 a.m. at Haleiwa Farmers’ Market site (Kamehameha Highway and Leong Bypass Road) to board the 30-seat bus. Cost per tour is $85 per person.
