Homecoming Parades On A Street Near You

Plan your traffic route ahead of time for two Central Oahu high school homecoming parades next week - or join the crowd along the routes.

Mililani High is expecting more than 800 marchers, five vehicles, four floats and a band at its Sept. 23 parade. Start time is 1 p.m. at Mililani Town Center, following a route from Makaimoimo Street, Meheula Parkway, Hookelewaa Street, Kipapa Drive, Kuahelani Avenue, Moenamanu Street and Kipapa Drive. It ends at 2 p.m. at the Trojans’ stadium. For more information, call Gail Nishimura at 627-7373.

Waialua High School’s parade begins at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 24 with 500 marchers expected to accompany 15 vehicles, six floats and two bands. Vehicles travel from the school parking lot to Farrington Highway, Kaukonahua Road, through Haleiwa to Haleiwa Beach Road and onto Waialua Beach Road. Marchers will join the vehicles at Waialua Recreation Center and proceed together to Goodale Avenue, then Farrington Highway, ending at Waialua High gym at about 4 p.m. For more details, call Gwen Lavarias at 637-8200, ext. 263.
