K-9 Dental Service will conduct anesthesia-free teeth cleaning from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 26 in Kahuku to benefit the nonprofit Hawaii Fi-Do service dog agency.

The 30-to 45-minute sessions will be held at Hawaii Fi-Do’s training facility at Kahuku Medical Center, and appointments can be made now by calling Judy Suan at 221-5698, Hawaii Fi-Do at 638-0200 or by visiting http://www.K9dentalservice.com.

Fee is $150, which includes a wellness exam prior to the teeth cleaning and a donation of $25 per dog to Hawaii FiDo. K-9 Dental Service’s Scott Blanchard,a Colorado resident who visits Hawaii twice a year to offer his services and former Hawaii veterinarian Eugene Pei will answer pet owners’ concerns.

The dental service has more than 20 years of experience and has completed more than 60,000 anesthesia-free dental cleanings to date.

Blanchard will do additional cleanings in Kailua on June 25.

Hawaii Fi-Do trains assistance dogs for the disabled community and offers educational opportunities to the business community on public access and the rights of service dog teams. Its “Read to Willie"program is the first and only reading program in the state where reluctant young readers are motivated to read to an audience of certified therapy dogs.

The group invites at-risk youths to help with puppy training and socialization and leads a program for student volunteers to teach awareness in classrooms through Students Teaching Animal Responsibility.
