Local Athletes Enjoyed Summer Full Of National Honors

Over the past few months many youth sports teams have flown back from the Mainland with championship trophies and medals, including several with ties to Central Oahu.
All Hawaii was proud of the Waipio All-Stars Little League team that won the league’s national title and finished runner-up in its World Series in August. Among the other winners are:
* The Central Oahu Boys 12-under baseball team, which won the U.S Specialty Sports Association World Series Championships in Chino Hills, Calif., in August.
* The Ewa Beach All-Stars, who took the 2010 PONY Bronco World Series Aug. 5-12 in Monterey, Calif.
* The Central Oahu Wahine Softball 12-under Fastpitch team, which won the Diamond Dreams Hall of Fame Tournament and also was the first 12-under team inducted into its Hall of Fame.
* The Mililani Po’okela softball team, which won the Amateur Softball Association 14-under B-Division Western National Championships in Roseville, Calif.
* The Wahiawa Bobby Sox softball team, which returned from La Mirada, Calif., as champions of the 10-under National Tournament.
* The Mililani-based Abunai 95 team, which captured the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup Finals for the Boys under-15 Premier Division in July.
More than 100 Central Oahu players and coaches have returned as champions, all deserving acknowledgment and praise for the way they’ve represented themselves and Hawaii on a championship-caliber level.
