A Saturday morning walk in Wahiawa is next on the Menehune Marchers Volksport Club’s calendar and everyone is invited.

The 5K and 10K volks-march is Aug. 15 at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. The route goes through the residential neighborhood and finishes back at the garden. Walkers may start any time between 7:30 and 10 a.m. and should finish by 1 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at the garden’s back parking lot on Glen Avenue.

Volksmarching is non-competitive walking along a pre-marked route. Each walker carries a start card and has it validated at checkpoints along the route. The card is turned in upon completion of the event, and finishers are given point credits.

The Wahiawa Walk is just one of the club’s year-round events. It recently added the Mililani Hui Hele (scheduled for Aug. 1 and 2).
