Master of metal art Mark Remling will showcase his latest works this weekend at thomadro Art Gallery in Haleiwa Town Center.

Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and the public is invited to meet the artist from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the opening reception, which includes light pupus and beverages. The show also is open Sunday.

As a pioneer of metal art, Remling’s interest in art began while he was growing up in New York. His passion for art continued until 1994 when he made art his full time career. He worked to refine his skills using various materials and substrates, before discovering the perfect medium for his style of art - metal.

Remling soon realized that by painting on metal, he was able to achieve much more depth and dimension in his work rather than on traditional cloth or canvas. Viewers may feel transported into a visual realm where they can swim in the sea with life-like turtles or gaze into the marvel of an abstract thought.
