Mililani Library, closed for the second of two ADA renovations, is scheduled to reopen Nov. 20 with brighter, energy-efficient light fixtures and ballasts.

“(Work) started yesterday and it looks great already,” said young adult librarian Shari-Lynn Murphy, of the Oct. 30 start. “They’ve put in a lot of lights, and it’s so much brighter I cannot believe it. ... We’re very, very thankful for the change.”

During the closure, the library book drop will remain open, and renewals may be made by calling any library branch. Also, hold fees will not be charged for items not picked up during the closure. These items may be picked up when the library reopens. Online access to the library system’s catalog is available at

The first phase of ADA renovations in March included improvements to the restrooms and parking lot and installing a new fire alarm system and wall around the atrium.

Also ahead, the Friends of Mililani Public Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at Mililani Town Center.
