Military Salutes: Wahiawa

Residents and former students of Central Oahu schools continue to join the military service and achieve success in training and combat duties. Below are Wahiawa and North Shore residents who have completed Army or Air Force training in the past year.

BASIC TRAINING Army - Clinton Baido of Wahiawa, at Fort Benning, Ga.; Michael Rivers of Wahiawa at Fort Sill, Okla.; Gabriel Williams (Leilehua 2008), Bryson Paulo (Leilehua 2007), Jordan Lindborg (Leilehua 2006), all at Fort Jackson, S.C.,

Army Reserve - Stephanie Bragge of Wahiawa, Derek Agader of Waialua and Mark R-Jay Caddali (Leilehua 2008), all at Fort Jackson, S.C.; Ronnie Powell of Haleiwa and Kyle Adam (Leilehua 2009), at Fort Sill, Okla.;

Army National Guard - Duarte Gomez (Leilehua 2008) at Fort Sill, Okla.; Krayton Cuesta (Leilehua 2008) at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Air Force - Patrick Harris of Wahiawa, Adrian Foster (Waialua 2008), Richard Bezouska (Leilehua 2008), Monica Reed (Leilehua 2008), Laura Bautista (Leilehua 2003), Bryen Waltjen (Leilehua 2004), Dar-Rell Brockman (Leilehua 2005), Chase Valmoja (Leilehua 2007), Courtney Kilday (Waialua 2009) at Lackland AFB, Texas;

Air National Guard - Melissa Pascua (Leilehua 2002, UH-Hilo 2006), Jeffery Cabal (Leilehua 2003, LCC 2007) at Lackland AFB, Texas


Army ROTC - Mabel-Lynne Priddy (Leilehua 2009) has graduated from leadership training at Fort Knox, Ky. while studying at New Mexico Military Institute; Josiah De Costa (Leilehua 2007), Steffan Shade (Leilehua 2006) and Alisha Bassim (Leilehua 2002, Oregon State 2006) have graduated from leadership training at Fort Lewis, Wash. De Costa studies at New Mexico Military Institute, Shade studies at University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.

ADVANCED TRAINING Air Force - Matthew Omalza (Leilehua 2001, LCC 2003) graduated in January from Air Traffic Control Operations Apprentice Course at Keesler AFB, Miss. He is assigned to the 23rd Operations Support Squadron at Moody AFB, Ga.
