Hawaii’s own Pet Mint LLC received top honors from Pet Product News for its newest product, Smell Goodies, and the company’s president - a Mililani resident - is thrilled.

Pet Mint LLC, the sister company of Body Mint, was a recipient of the 2007 Pet Product News Editors’ Choice Award. It was announced in late summer and presented at SuperZoo, the pet industry trade show in Las Vegas. Pet Product News is a monthly business news magazine, covering all sectors of the pet industry.

“We were pretty jazzed. They literally do test hundreds of new products every year,” said president Paula Chong.“It’s quite a feat, getting in there (into Pet Product News). People are surprised and pleased for us.”

Smell Goodies is an all-natural deodorizing tablet for dogs that claims to refresh a dog’s breath and body simultaneously. First launched in Hawaii in July 2006, the product is experiencing a sudden surge of success this year. Not only did it win the national award, but soon it will be more than just a local product. Starting in March 2008, Smell Goodies will be on the shelves of about 800 PetCO stores nationwide. Also recently, Body Mint was profiled on CNN.
