About 90 groups will march in the Wahiawa Lions Club Veterans Day Parade, starting at 10 a.m. Nov. 11 at Kaala Elementary and moving up California Avenue to Wahiawa District Park on the theme “Welcome Our Veterans.”

Grand marshal of the 64th annual march is Army Col. (Ret.) Bert Nishimura of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The Royal Hawaiian Band and an ukulele band will play for the marchers, which include scout troops, schools, all armed services and color guards, and many community groups. For more details, call 621-0115.

Gen. Robert Caslen, commanding general of the 25th Infantry Division, is expected to speak at 10:45 a.m. at the park, if all goes according to plan. Caslen addressed 2007 paraders from Iraq via a public address system.

Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Leonardo Jamias, a Samoan who has been assisting with the tragedy in his native islands, will do the invocation and benediction. Kirk Caldwell will welcome the crowd on the mayor’s behalf.

Flag-raising, military displays, food, crafts, games, inflatables also are planned.
