For the second year, Waimea Valley will host a Poi Supper on Nov. 20, followed by a Makahiki Nov. 21 at the North Shore living park.

* Billed as a “backyard paina,” Poi Supper runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., offering fine Hawaiian food, hula and the screening of the Edgy Lee film The Hawaiians: Reflecting Spirit. Tickets cost $60, or $50 for military and kamaaina.

* The Makahiki from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. has activities, games, hula, crafts and cultural experiences, as well as a plant sale, guided tours and a kanikapila with the Abrigo Ohana. HECO is underwriting park admission fees for all local and mainland military stationed in Hawaii.
