Repairs To California Ave. Now Under Way

Over the next 14 months, the city will repair and resur-face Wahiawa’s long, bumpy road, California Avenue, via a $7.2 million project contracted to Road Builders Corp.

Concrete work began two weeks ago. Work hours are 8:30 am. to 3:30 p.m. week-days with periodic lane closures and delays.

Work includes demolition and removal of existing pavement, curbs and/or gutters; installation of aggregate base course, geogrid and woven geotextile, asphalt concrete base and asphalt concrete pavement; installation of grade adjustment curb; construction of new concrete slabs, curbs and gutters; tree and root trimming and pruning as needed; adjustment of street monuments and manholes; restoration of all pavement loop detectors, striping, markings and markers.

The project is expected to take up to 425 days.
