The latest rush hour in Mililani isn’t on the roads, it’s an outdoor workout led by Team Move that meets at 5:15 p.m. every Thursday near the public library.

“Rush Hour is based on ‘parkour,’ which is a style of free running where they jump off buildings and do fun stuff,“said Kim Lehano, Team Move Hawaii co-founder and marketing coordinator. “We aren’t going to be as extreme as that. We call it rush hour because you are doing this for one whole hour.

“We run for three minutes, then we stop and do whatever exercises the instructor tells us to do. Every class is different, but it is nonstop.”

The Mililani class launched Oct. 29, and TMH co-founder and personal trainer Damon Iaea calls it a full body work-out.

“We are doing upper body and lower body,“he said.“This combines both cardio and resistance training. It is on the fly. We use curbs, tables, walls, bleachers or steps. If we change the location it automatically opens it up to different parks, trees or schools, so we have a whole different workout. We literally can go anywhere.

“Whenever we want to start something new, we always say tomorrow, next week,“Iaea added.“But there’s no better time to start than now.”

Rush Hour also meets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Ala Moana Beach Park. The cost is $35 per month, and the first class is free. For more information, call 226-2625, log onto

There will be a free Thanksgiving morning workout at Waipio Central Oahu Regional Park from 8 to 9 a.m. The first half of the class will be a boot camp style class taught by Iaea. The second half of the class will be power yoga with another instructor. Reservations are required.
