U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack designated all four Hawaii counties agricultural disaster areas because of losses from this year’s drought, making farm operators and producers in Central Oahu and elsewhere eligible for Farm Service Agency emergency loans and the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program.

The FSA will consider each emergency loan on its own merits by taking into account the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.

Farmers in eligible counties have eight months from the date of the disaster declaration to apply for loan help.

For details , Oahu farmers should call the USDA Farm Service Agency at 441-2704.
