Despite some district labels, all voters on Oahu get to decide the outcome of three state Board of Education races, and there are five positions to fill.

The Sept. 23 primary ballot will list 17 Oahu-at-large candidates - to be narrowed to six for the General Election where three final seats will be filled. The Windward District (candidates must live in that area) has three candidates - to be narrowed to two for the General Election where one seat will be filled.

With only two candidates, the Central District’s Eileen Clarke and incumbent Shirley Robinson will automatically advance to the General Election ballot.

* At-large candidates are Michael Bass, Carolyn Golojuch, Henry Hoeft Jr., Donna Ikeda, Kim Coco Iwamoto, Brian Kessler, Malcolm Kirkpatrick, Philmund Lee, Marcia Linville, Bob McDermott, Liam Skilling, Nancy Stone, Terrance Tom, Ruth Tschumy, Brian Yamane and incumbents Darwin Ching and Karen Knudsen.

* Windward candidates are Kris DeRego, John Penebacker and incumbent Paul Vierling.
