Walks, Stories, Talks And More At Audubon Center

Waimea Valley Audubon Center has a busy schedule of weekday and weekend activities to offer residents and North Shore visitors.

Historic walks, kupuna stories and talks with the park archaeolo-gist occur on a regular basis. Also planned for October are a craft workshop and a hike.

* The Lei Po ‘o Workshop will start at 1 p.m. Oct. 7 for adults who want to learn how to make head lei using the natural materials of the valley. Fee is $3 plus admission.


* A North Valley Hike is set for 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20 and will explore Waimea’s less-frequented northern valley in a 6-mile trek that is described as “moderate to strenuous” for ages 12 and older. Fee is $3 plus admission.

Kamaaina admission rate is $5 for adults, and $3 for children ages 4 to 12. For more information, call 638-9199.
