While all of the North Shore is proud of the 2008 Waialua High robotics team’s success, Dole Plantation took a big step toward the Bulldogs’ future achievements in the field by hosting a fundraising luau for the school program May 15. About 350 fans gathered for Hawaiian food, entertainment and a silent auction to honor and support Waialua in the many Mainland robotics competitions to come. “We are proud to be a part of this incredible program,” said Castle & Cooke Hawaii’s vice president of retail, Susan Harada. “The benefits for students and our community are invaluable.” The event raised $10,000, at last count, toward the $100,000 yearly expenses Glenn Lee and his student teams need to cover for travel, parts and shipping.
