In a community that thrives on its art, Haleiwa has added a special day to the list of its tributes to creativity. The North Shore Chamber of Commerce and 18 shops and galleries staged the first-ever Haleiwa Art Walk on July 26. The public was invited to stroll through the town from 6 to 9 p.m., to enjoy pupus and entertainment along with sidewalk sales, special promotions and featured artists at various locales.

The event also served as a timely way for two new businesses - Bonzer Front Surf Shop and Kai Ku Hale (Green Style Living Gift Shop) - to stage their grand openings. The group plans to do it again on the last Saturday of every month. For details, call 637-4558.
