It was a blustery Nov. 18 when Our Lady of Sorrows held its Fall Family Festival on the grounds of the former school. The goal was to raise funds for a trip to World Youth Day 2010, but the overall result was plenty of fun. Headed by Glenn Brasher, festival volunteers for Wahiawa’s Catholic parish had food, games, crafts, face painting and tattoos, rummage and bake sales, entertainment, a bouncer and a slide. The folks in the turkey hats (above), along with others, helped raise more cash when people tried to guess their combined weight. Foodland turkeys went to two winners who came within 5 pounds of the answer (800-plus pounds). Next focus for the church ohana: Ash Wednesday kicks off Lent on Feb. 6.
