The Wahiawa Thunderbolts went into training camp last month and came out with a “feel-good” story, according to Michelle Jenks, team mom for the Termites.

“Our boys had a blast,” recalled Jenks of the Oct. 14 drills on the Leilehua High School football field. The Mules’ JV and varsity players and coaches set up six stations to challenge the younger players as they learned different positions and techniques of the game. The boys are age 9 to 11 and play in the Wahiawa Youth Sports League.

“After the training, there was some inspirational talk from the LHS coaches,” Jenks said. “Our boys learned about hard work, discipline, and above all, being student athletes.

“This positive, motivational experience will help our Termites and Peewees with not only learning more about the game, but being better role models in our community.”
