The quality care and comfort of a 1-year-old East Oahu child with spinal muscular atrophy may depend on the success of an Oct. 30 fundraiser in downtown Honolulu.

Friends of Bailey Lehua U’i Carranza are planning Benefit 4 Bailey from 5 to 10 p.m. Oct. 30 at Pipeline Cafe with emcee Kala’i Miller and entertainers Island Storm, Darren Benitez, MZ Royalty Erica Aloisio and H Trey. Admission is $25 at the door and includes heavy pupus, prizes, a costume contest and family fun.

Proceeds will help buy a 2011 Toyota Sienna handicap ramp van, which will enable Bailey to travel outside her family’s home in Kuliouou valley. The neuromuscular disease severely limited her physically, but friends say she is “a bright and happy little girl” despite it.

Monetary donations and prizes also are welcome. To offer help or purchase tickets, call 306-0081 or go to groovetickets.com. Pipeline is located at 805 Pohukaina St.
