Del.icio.usDevelopers of a now postponed luxury condo project in Hawaii Kai have pledged to continue working to convey an adjacent 5acre park to the community through the Trust for Public Land.
Citing the weakened global economy, Hale Ka Lae announced earlier this month that it was discontinuing sales and that all $5,000 deposits would be fully refunded. The 10-story project, located at 7000 Hawaii Kai Drive, broke ground in October after years of delay and changes of ownership and plans.
The Korean backer of Hale Ka Lae, Hanwha Engineering and Construction, also stated it would move forward with “exploring the opportunity for affordable senior housing at Lunalilo Home.”
According to chief operating officer Michael Greco, the 242-unit complex would have generated up to 400 construction jobs, plus work for Hawaii businesses, architects and engineers.
