Hokulani In Blue Ribbon Race

Del.icio.usHokulani Elementary School recently joined two Windward public schools as Hawaii’s Blue Ribbon Schools now in the running for 2012 national recognition. Frito-Lay of Hawaii also gave each school a $3,000 cash award.
Located between Kaimuki and UH Manoa, Hokulani has 360 students in grades K-5 and is noted for high test performance a result of improved teaching strategies and a challenging curriculum. The school was honored as a Blue Ribbon school in 2005 as well. The campus has adopted a Tribes system of cooperative learning, social skills and responsibility under the watch of principal Alan Ramos.
Its vision statement: “Hokulani is a place where everyone reaches for the stars. We are a caring community of learners who promote world peace and world citizenship.”
The other two winners are Enchanted Lake and Heeia elementary schools.
