Maunalua Communities Foundation already is thinking about July 4, and logo contest entries for that celebration are due Dec. 28.
Students in grades K-8 are invited to hand-draw a logo that conveys “What I love about Independence Day at Maunalua Bay.” The winning design will be printed on the event T-shirt and on all promotional accessories for the 2012 and 2013 Independence Day festivities, plus earn $200 in cash and prizes.
They must be postmarked by Dec. 28, and the first-, secondand third-place winners will be announced Jan. 8 at the First Sunday Community Market at Koko Marina Center.
The winning art is used to brand the event, explained foundation co-president Elizabeth Reilly, noting that the previous two winners will be featured on the front of the T-shirts, while this year’s winning artwork adorns the back.
“There always will be an essence of the winning artists,” she said.
To enter, (neatly) print name, age, address, phone, school, title of image and parent signature on the back of the design, which must be on an 8 1/2-by-11-inch sheet of white printer paper and 100 percent completed by the student. Mail them flat with no folds to the foundation at 7177 Kamilo St., Honolulu 96825.
All entries become the property of Maunalua Communities Foundation, which is the new name of the former Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Foundation. For more information visit idmbf.org.
