The Hawaii State Library System purged its files of all inactive accounts on Nov. 22, including patrons who haven’t used their cards in the past three years to borrow materials.

Those residents who only use their library cards for Internet and other online access also may notice “the purge.”

Fear not. Accounts can be re-activated free of charge by filling out a new application with valid identification at any library branch.

Removing inactive accounts from the patron database “will provide an updated, more accurate database for our business and management uses,” officials explained.
