Diamond Head Theatre will bring Little Women, The Broadway Musical to the stage this Friday through Dec. 19 at the East Oahu theater.

The show is based on the classic Louisa May Alcott novel and portrays the lives of the four young March sisters as they navigate their ways through their later teen years and deal with the many questions and uncertainties of life.

The theme that resonates throughout the play is that of family solidarity, reinforcing the powerful bond between sisters.

For sister and artist Amy, played by Elise Levin, the question is “What will I be when I grow up?”

Brittany Browning has the role of independent Jo and asks,“Will I settle down to marry or have a career?”

Meilan Akaka is cast as the fragile Beth who wonders, “What does life hold?”

Lastly, for sensible and loyal Meg played by Lydia Pusateri, she questions how she will feel about leaving the family home to marry.

With their father away at war, the girls turn to their mother, “Marmee” March, played by Mary Hicks, for strength and guidance.

Little Women is directed by Brett Harwood, with musical direction by Emmett Yoshioka and choreography by John Rampage.

Show times are scheduled for 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday, and Saturday matinées at 3 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 18.

Ticket prices range from $12 to $42, with discounts available for children under 18, full-time students, seniors 62 and older, and active-duty military.
