The Kaiser High School Foundation is accepting nominations for outstanding alumni who have excelled in their career and education, and who have been inspirational leaders.

As part of the school’s 40th anniversary celebration, honorees will be acknowledged at the foundation’s Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony and dinner Nov. 20, 2011, at the Hawaii Prince Hotel.

“This is our second dinner - we had our first dinner in 2007 - but we plan to make it annual,” said KHSF president Linda Lau.“We need to have nominations in by the end of the year.”

Nominations are accepted in three categories: 1) distinguished alumni who attended KHS for at least one year and who have excelled because of their education there; 2) distinguished educators who have contributed to Kaiser’s educational mission, or provided guidance to students as a teacher, counselor, staff member, coach or administrator; and 3) distinguished community members who have directly benefited Kaiser. Residents outside of Hawaii Kai also are eligible.

The dinner also raises funds for scholarships, so Lau has been trying to get the word out.

“We’ve made pamphlets that we’ll hand out at the farmer’s market run by Kaiser PTSA (Tuesdays from 4 to 7 p.m.),“said Lau.“The dinner also was announced at the school’s homecoming activities, in the school bulletin and in the parent’s bulletin.”

Nominations must be postmarked by Jan. 7. For a nomination packet, call Lau at 681-7522 or send your request to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
