Everybody loves to help open a new restaurant, so Taco Del Mar at Hawaii Kai Towne Center was the place to be on Nov. 19. Ken Nascimento, the local businessman who has signed up at least 19 franchisees on Oahu alone, threw a VIP party for family and friends the night before the restaurant officially opened its doors. The Mexi-fresh concept is definitely the trend these days, according to Nascimento, and Taco Del Mar with its Mondo Burritos and Rippin’ Tacos stands ready to serve it up according to the customer’s preferences. The Seattle-based chain has settled in to satisfy East Oahu fans, operating between Costco Tires and Verizon Wireless at the town center.
