Kaimuki’s Lindsey Anne Austin, 22, is set to race Bill Myers’ yacht Cirrus from Long Beach to Honolulu July 9, making her the youngest captain in the history of the TransPac race. Lindsey’s mom, Donna Domasin Austin, will be part of her crew ... Speaking of youth, TransPac racers are growing younger and younger. We’ve got Hawaii’s Mark Towill, 18, the youngest on the crew of Roy Disney‘s Morning Light - where the average will be 21.2 years at race time. Then there are the local Doyle boys - skipper Sean (19) and navigator Justin (18) - on their dad’s yacht, On the Edge of Destiny. With their three other youngish mates, including Roscoe Fowler (20) of Kahala, the Doyles claim a new record for youngest crew (19.8 years), breaking the 1969 record of 22.57 years.
