The University of Hawaii Regents have approved the renaming of the School of Social Work after one of its most famous alumni, the late Myron “Pinky” Thompson of Niu Valley. “Mr. Thompson was a highly principled, wise and compassionate person who continues to inspire those who knew him and whose legacy will inspire generations to follow,” declared dean Jon Matsuoka. Myron was a leader in Alu Like, Bishop Estate, Queen Liliuokalani Trust, Polynesian Voyaging Society and many other Native Hawaiian causes ...

Christin Matsushige of St. Louis Heights loves cats so much, she formed the nonprofit Hawaii Cat Foundation and bought some land in Kahaluu to give the abandoned felines a safe home.
