UH professor of composition and theory Donald Womack has won a commission to compose a short choral work on an aspect of the life of Father Damien, as well as a $3,000 prize. A Hawaii Kai resident and composer, he is respected for his “high emotional content that is fresh, consistent and convincing.” Donald says he’s honored to create a piece to honor this model of selflessness and soon-to-be canonized saint.
