Parades From Pearl City To Ewa Beach

With the holiday season upon us, expect Christmas cheer to spread across West Oahu with an abundance of Christmas parades, equaling fun for the whole family.

This Sunday at 4 p.m., Pearl City Shopping Center will have its Christmas parade, starting at Momilani Elementary School, continuing on to Hookiekie Street, Hoomoana Street, Hoolaulea Street and ending at the shopping center. Close to 1,000 marchers are expected to participate, along with many vehicles and floats. For more information, call 593-1533.

On Dec 8, more than 300 participants, bands included, will march in the Aiea Community Association Christmas Parade. They will make their way from the Aiea High School parking lot at Ulune Street to Pearlridge Center Phase 2 (near Starbucks and Inspiration Furniture), passing through Aiea Heights Drive and Moanalua Road along the way. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. Call 429-1282.


Also on Dec. 8, the Gentry Waipio Community Association will stage its Christmas parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade route begins at Waipio Gentry Shopping Center, moving along Waipio Uka Street, Ukee Street, Ka Uka Boulevard, and returning to the shopping center. For details, call 671-2272.

At 6 p.m. the same day, the West Oahu Holiday Electric Light Parade will brighten up the night with 25 vehicles and three floats. The event will run from Kapolei Fairgrounds at Kealanani Avenue, to Farrington Highway, Kamokila Boulevard, left onto Uluohia Street, finishing at Kapolei Hale. Call 527-5759.


The Ewa Beach Community Association sponsors its Christmas Parade at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 15 . The march will start at Ilima Intermediate School, and move along Fort Weaver Road, Kuhina Street, Hanakahi Street, and North Road, then make its way back to Fort Weaver Road and Ilima Intermediate. Call 689-1311.

As Christmas draws nearer, the Lighthouse Outreach Center will have an Early Christmas Celebration from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 22. This event is expected to entertain more than 500 guests. Traffic will be diverted starting at 8 a.m. for set-up, closing 94-230 Leokane St. along the bend portion from Farrington Highway to Leowahine Street. Roads will be open for local traffic only.
