* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at Kapolei Shopping Center; from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at Ewa Town Center by Foodland; and from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Calvary Chapel West Oahu, 91-928 Ft. Weaver Road. Call 845-9966.

* FOOD DRIVE Hawaii Winter Baseball conducts a food drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 23 at Pearl City Shopping Center to assist the Women’s Domestic Abuse Shelter. Checks also will be accepted.

* ROYAL MUSIC The Royal Hawaiian Band performs at noon Aug. 20 at Kapolei Hale; at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 23 at Kapolei Library for its fourth anniversary; and at 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at Family Fun Day at Momilani Community Center. Call 922-5331.

* BON DANCE West Oahu’s bon dance season continues at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Aiea Hongwanji (488-5685).

* CANSTRUCTION Teams of local architects and designers “canstruct” giant structures of canned foods from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 23 throughout Pearlridge Center Uptown. The structures will be on display for two weeks while the public votes for its favorite design. They will be “de-canstructed” Sept. 7 and the food delivered to Hawaii Foodbank. Call 488-0981.

* CRUISE NIGHT An Ohana Cruz Night for car fans is planned for 6 p.m. Aug. 23 at Kapolei Home Depot. Call 423-1198.

* PEARL CITY HIKE The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 6-mile, intermediate hike to Halapepe Nui in Pearl City at 8 a.m. Aug. 23. Go to http://www.htm-club.org.

* CHICKEN SALE-WAIPAHUWaipahu Aloha Clubhouse has its annual chicken fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at 94-091 Waipio Point Access Road (behind Waipahu High School). Tickets are on sale now. * CHOIR AUDITIONSKaleoaloha Keiki Choir holds open auditions for youth ages 6-16 from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at Our Savior Lutheran School (across the street from Toys R Us near Pearlridge). Appointments are required; auditions take 15-20 minutes, with a parent briefing included. Practices will be held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at Koko Head District Park in Hawaii Kai. * PATRIOT GOLF DAY Ko Olina Golf Club hosts a special golf clinic with golf pros Lt. Billy Hurley III, Greg Nichols, Travis Joerger and Tommy Hines at 10 a.m. Aug. 30. In observance of the second annual Patriot Golf Day, golfers are asked to donate a minimum of $1 to the military-oriented scholarship foundation, Folds of Honor. * HOLIDAY CLOSURES Public schools and libraries are closed Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day.
