* RADIO POLITICS Members of West Oahu neighborhood boards talk about the landfill, water use and more with city staff during HPR’s On Politics at 5 p.m. Sept. 30 on KIPO FM.

* KEIKI FESTIVAL Hawaii’s Plantation Village hosts its third annual Keiki Festival with plenty of makahiki games, balloon artistry, keiki hula performances, ethnic food samples, and catch and release fishing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct.4. Storyteller Nyla Fujii-Babb makes a special appearance at 11:30 a.m. Admission and parking are free. Call 677-0110.


* PET BLESSING St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Kapolei celebrates a traditional Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. Oct. 5 at Island Pacific Academy in Kapolei. Pets welcome. Call 674-0766.

* P.O.N.Y. SIGNUPSRegistration for returning P.O.N.Y. players age 5 to 14 takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5, 12 and 19 at Makakilo Recreation Center for Makakilo-Kapolei Youth Baseball League. * WAIAU HIKE The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 12-mile advanced hike on Waiau ridge at 8 a.m. Oct. 5. Go to http://www.htmclub.org.

* NEIGHBORS Ewa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at Ewa Beach Library. Call 768-3710.

* HISPANIC FESTIVAL The Hispanic Heritage Festival runs from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, featuring rides, food, crafts, cultural displays, Latino DJs and dance troupes. Admission is $25. Call 941-5216.

* GOLF BENEFIT Independent Living Waipahu and Hawaii FI-DO sponsor a benefit golf tourney, Driving for Independence, on Oct. 17 at the Hawaii Prince Golf Course in Ewa Beach. For signups and sponsorships, call 497-2350.

* FOOD EXHIBIT Kapolei Library hosts the traveling Smithsonian exhibit, Key Ingredients: America by Food, bringing a variety of displays and free programs. This week’s schedule includes culinary historian Wanda Adams at 7 p.m Sept. 30 on “Why Hawaii Eats the Way It Does” and MA’O Organic Farms staff and students on sustainable growing at 7 p.m. Oct. 7.
