Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* NEIGHBORS Makakilo-Kapolei-Honokai Hale Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Kapolei High School cafeteria; the Waipahu board meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Hawaii’s Plantation Village; and the Pearl City board meets at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Highlands Intermediate School cafeteria. * SENIOR FAIR Ka Punawai Ola hosts a Senior Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22 at 575 Farrington Hwy. in Kapolei. Call 674-9262.

* TOUR DE TRASH The city presents a free tour of six West Oahu waste and recycling processors from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23. Meet at Kapolei Hale. For reservations on first-come, first-served basis, call 768-3200.

* WAIPAHU MAGIC The Great Davidio (aka dentist David Brown) presents feats of magic for free at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Waipahu Library’s C.O. Andy Anderson Room. Call 675-0358.

* FAMILY FEST A Family Fun Festival is planned by Hawaii Self Storage from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24-26 at 488 Kamokila Blvd., featuring a Spooky Trail, Ghoulish Games, costume contest and more. Proceeds go to Kalaeloa Homeless Shelter, Kapolei High and Kapolei Library. Call 949-7233.

* HAUNTED HOUSE Easter Seals hosts a Haunted House from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25 at its Adult Day Center in Ewa Beach, 91-1251 Renton Road. Call 681-0747.

* eWASTE Leeward Community College conducts an eWaste drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 25 to recycle residents’ old computers, cell phones, printers, TV sets and more.

* WAIPIO COSTUMES Waipio Center hosts its 10th annual Halloween costume contest at 2 p.m. Oct. 25. Sign up from 1:30 p.m. by Nancy’s Kitchen. All participants get goodie bags, and the Sabrina Starr Dancers will entertain at the free event. Call 722-8487.

* CHURCH CARNIVAL Bethel Chapel Assembly of God presents a Fall Family Fun Fest and mini-carnival at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at 94-371 Ana Lane in Waipahu featuring door prizes, bouncy castles, candy, food, a “blast from the past” costume contest and battle of the rock bands. Call 677-3992.

* P.O.N.Y. SIGNUPS Registration for new P.O.N.Y. players age 5 to 14 takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 26, Nov. 2 and 9 at the Kapolei Safeway. Call Dirk at 228-3521. (P.O.N.Y. stands for Protect Our Nation’s Youth.)

* HALLOWEEN PROGRAM Pearl City High School’s drama class presents a modern, interactive performance of Cinderella at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Pearl City Library. Call 453-6566.

* KEIKI HALLOWEEN Kapolei Library hosts a Halloween celebration at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 complete with the Aloha Clowns, free air-brush face painting and a costume contest. Call 693-7050.

* KUNIA HALLOWEEN Auntie Pasto’s at Kunia Shopping Center plans a special dinner on Halloween night, featuring “bottomless” pasta, pumpkin tiramisu, costume contests, candy and safe trick-or-treating. Call 680-0005 by Oct. 29.

* TEEN READS Nyla Fujii-Babb and Yukie Shiroma present “a darkly humorous exploration in dance, music and story inspired by the mystique of ancient human bones” at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at Aiea Library.

* FAMILY NIGHT Palisades Baptist Church throws a free Family Fun Night full of games, food and prizes at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the church, located at 2251 Auhuhu St. Call 487-2275.

* MARKET TREATS The Marketplace at Kapolei plans a trick-or-treat with merchants from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

* PEARL LUNCH The Pearl Restaurant at Leeward Community College is open for lunch Wednesday-Friday now through Dec. 5. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. featuring contemporary cuisine from the culinary students. For reservations, call 455-0475.

* LIBRARY PLAY Kapolei Library has play mornings at 10 a.m. Thursdays for keiki ages 2 to 5. Also at the library are toddler storytimes at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, and Saturday Storytimes for keiki 3 and older are at 10 a.m. Call 693-7050.

* KEIKI AT LIBRARY Pearl City Library offers a fall story hour at 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday for ages 3 and older; and a puzzle time at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday for ages 1 to 3. Call 453-6566.

* FRIDAY MELE Baba Alimoot and Friends provide free musical entertainment from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Friday throughout Pearlridge. Call 488-0981.

* GARDENING The Urban Garden Center has a free gardening program for the public from 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month at 955 Kamehameha Hwy. Call 453-6050.

* FREE MULCH The Honolulu Board of Water Supply and Hawaiian Earth Products offer free mulch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday at the Halawa Xeriscape Garden. Bring own containers and shovels. Call 748-5041.

* SENIOR KARATE Shotokan Karate Center conducts karate classes for seniors at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Saturday in the Pearl City Highlands Elementary School cafeteria. Call 456-9407.

* LIVE MUSIC Slack key recording artist Ray Sowders performs live from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday on the lanai of Chili’s Kapolei. Call 693-8722.

* FARMERS’ MARKET Waianae Farmers’ Market is open from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month at Makaha Resort, offering fresh, organic produce, plants and locally prepared foods. Call 696-1599 or 848-2074.

* SUPPORT GROUPS A Hospice Hawaii grief support group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month (924-9255), and a cancer support group, Hui Malama Kako’o, meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Thursday (except holidays) in the first-floor physicians dining room of Pali Momi hospital (485-4548).

* POLYNESIAN DANCE Na Malama Polynesian Dance Studio in Ewa Beach has open enrollment on Saturdays in hula, Maori, Tahitian and Samoan dancing. Drummers and musicians also are welcome. Call 271-9403.
