Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

October

* NEIGHBORS The Pearl City Neighborhood Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Highlands Intermediate School cafeteria. Call 768-3710.

* HALLOWEEN PROGRAM Pearl City High School’s drama class presents a modern, interactive performance of Cinderella at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Pearl City Library. Call 453-6566.

* KEIKI HALLOWEEN Kapolei Library hosts a Halloween celebration at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 complete with the Aloha Clowns, free air-brush face painting and a costume contest. Call 693-7050.


* TEEN READS Nyla Fujii-Babb and Yukie Shiroma present “a darkly humorous exploration in dance, music and story inspired by the mystique of ancient human bones” at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at Aiea Library.

* FAMILY NIGHT Palisades Baptist Church throws a free Family Fun Night full of games, food and prizes at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the church, located at 2251 Auhuhu St. Call 487-2275.

* KUNIA HALLOWEEN Auntie Pasto’s at Kunia Shopping Center plans a special dinner on Halloween night, featuring “bottomless"pasta, pumpkin tiramisu, costume contests, candy and safe trick-or-treating. Call 680-0005 by Oct. 29.

* TRICK OR TREAT The Marketplace at Kapolei hosts trick-or-treating from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 with its merchants.

* HALLOWEEN GOLF Jungle River Mini Golf welcomes costumed golfers from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 for games, arts and crafts, prizes, trick-or-treating, golf and a costume contest. Call 488-8808.

November

* ROYAL MUSIC The Royal Hawaiian Band performs at noon Nov. 1 at Pearlridge Center’s Uptown center court. Call 488-9981.

* BLOOD DRIVE Hawaii Blood Bank conducts a donor drive from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at Pearlridge Center Uptown parking lot near Tilt. Call 845-9966.

* CHICKEN SALE St. Nicholas Episcopal Church has a chicken sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 1 at Island Pacific Academy, 909 Haumea St. in Kapolei. Whole Huli-huli chickens are $8 each, and proceeds benefit the church youth group. Call 674-0766.

* BLOCK PARTY Salvation Army hosts a teen outreach “Pau A’ready Block Party” from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 at 94-925 Waipahu St. featuring food, activities, sports, prizes, resources, balloons, face painting and music by Kapolei High’s Poly Club and many more. Call 440-1830.

* FAMILY DAY Go Rail Go! and several unions sponsor a family fun day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 at Kapolei Regional Park, offering inflatable rides, live music and dance, food, prizes and plenty of information on the city’s proposed rail transit plan. A free shuttle will transport visitors from the Kapolei Hale parking lot.

* BOOK SIGNINGS Frank Haines signs the new edition of Architecture in Hawaii at noon Nov. 1 in Borders Waikele. On Nov. 2, author Christine Le and illustrator Michel Le sign The Hawaii Snowman at 2 p.m., and on Nov. 29 author Laurie Ide and illustrator Jeff Pagay sign copies of Whale Song and Dance at 2 p.m. Call 732-1709.


* RAIATEA SINGS Raiatea Helm performs at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Kunia Wal-Mart and 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Pearl City Wal-Mart promoting her Christmas Medley gift set and CD sampler.

* P.O.N.Y.SIGNUPS Registration for new P.O.N.Y. players age 5 to 14 takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 2 and 9 at the Kapolei Safeway. Call Dirk at 228-3521. (P.O.N.Y. stands for Protect Our Nation’s Youth.)

* NATIVE ART Leeward Community College has a free exhibit of Native Hawaiian art on view Nov. 3 to Dec. 4 in the Foyer Art Gallery. Call 455-0524.

* ARBOR DAY The UH Urban Garden Center gives out free trees from 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 while supplies last in observation of Arbor Day. * LIBRARY PLAY Kapolei Library has play mornings at 10 a.m. Thursdays for keiki ages 2 to 5; toddler storytimes at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday; and Saturday storytimes for keiki 3 and older are at 10 a.m. Call 693-7050.

* KEIKI AT LIBRARY Pearl City Library offers a fall story hour at 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday for ages 3 and older; and a puzzle time at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday for ages 1 to 3. Call 453-6566.

* WAIPAHU SHOPPING Waipahu Festival Marketplace is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. week-days, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays and holidays at 94-340 Waipahu Depot Road selling fresh fish, produce, crafts, refreshments and Island-made products. Call 677-6939.

* FARMERS’MARKET Waianae Farmers’ Market is open from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month at Makaha Resort selling fresh, organic produce, plants and locally prepared foods. Call 696-1599.
