Below are highlights of what’s coming up in the West Oahu community.

* Aiea Library features a display of ceramic sculptures Aiea Intermediate School students through the end of October. Call 483-7333.

* HMSA offers a community flu shot clinic from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m.Oct. 12 at the Pearl City Don Quijote (Daiei). Nonmembers’ fee is $35. Call 948-6826.

* The Ewa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Ewa Beach Library. Call 527-5749.

* Ewa Elementary School hosts an orientation by Keiki O Ka Aina Family Learning Center at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 17 on free home instruction designed to get Hawaiian children ready for kindergarten. Call 843-2502.


* Student artwork from Island Pacific Academy,Waiau Elementary and five other schools honored for their art programs are on view now through Oct. 21 at The ARTS at Mark’s Garage in downtown Honolulu. Exhibit title is Underage Thinking VI. Call 521-2903.

* Pearl City’s Made in Hawaii Foods offers samples of persimmon jam,butter,salad dressing,scone mix and fresh and dried persimmons from Maui’s family-run Hashimoto Persimmon Farm from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 14. Call 264-9837.

* Nickelodeon’s Nick Live show is at Pearlridge Uptown Center Court at noon Oct. 14. where a series of challenges result in one keiki being doused with Nickelodeon’s signature green slime.Also Oct. 14, the Tradewinds band entertains at 6 p.m. Downtown. Call 488-0981.

* Waipahu Hongwanji Mission holds a craft and food bazaar from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 15. Call 677-4221.

* The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15 at Waikele Center and from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Kapolei Bank of Hawaii. Call 845-9966.


* Waipahu Library offers free storytime, songs and activities at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 17 for keiki ages 3 to 5. Call 675-0358.

* Area lawmakers host a meeting on “Mass Transit and Transportation Plans"at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 in the Waipahu Intermediate School cafeteria. Experts will share the latest transit proposals and construction projects for the Waipahu area. Call Rep. Jon Riki Karamatsu at 586-8490.

* The Royal Hawaiian Band performs at noon Oct. 18 in the Kapolei Hale courtyard. Call 922-5331.
