Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* Deadline is Oct. 18 to sign up for the Waipio Center Community Swap Meet, set for Oct. 28 across from Central Oahu Regional Park. Booth fee is $20. Call 288-2590.

* The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Kapolei Bank of Hawaii; and 7:30 a.m.to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Waipahu Intermediate School; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22 at Pearlridge Center. Call 845-9966.

* The Royal Hawaiian Band performs at noon Oct. 18 in the Kapolei Hale courtyard. Call 922-5331.


* The state Board of Education holds its monthly general business meeting Oct. 19 at Pearl City High School. The afternoon session begins at 3:30 p.m. The board will reconvene at about 7 p.m. to hear public concerns. Call 586-3332.

* Kapolei Library (1020 Manawai St.) offers a series of free Storytime programs now through Dec. 16. Toddler storytime (ages 2 to 3) is 10 a.m. Mondays (Oct. 23, 30) and Preschool storytime is 10 a.m. Thursdays (Oct. 19, 26) and Saturdays (Oct. 21, 28). Call 693-7050.

* Waipahu High School celebrates homecoming Oct. 20 with a parade at 3 p.m. from the school into area streets and back. Call 675-0123.

* Ewa Beach Community Park hosts a Halloween Bash at 6 p.m. Oct. 20. Call Darlene at 689-0370.

* The Actors Group presents To U.S. with Aloha and Mabuhay at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20 and 21 and 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at Pearl City Cultural Center in celebration of the Hawaii Filipino Centennial. Tickets are $15. Call 550-8457.

* Waipio Center hosts its eighth annual Halloween costume contest at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 next to Nancy’s Kitchen, featuring goodie bags for all contestants,cash prizes and more. Registration (for ages 0 to 12) starts at 1:30 p.m. Call 722-8487.

* HMSA offers a community flu shot clinic from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m.Oct. 21 at Leeward Community College, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 24 at Kapolei Theatres. Nonmembers’fee is $35. Call 948-6826.


* Student artwork from Island Pacific Academy,Waiau Elementary and five other schools honored for their art programs are on view now through Oct. 21 at The ARTS at Mark’s Garage in downtown Honolulu. Exhibit title is Underage Thinking VI. Call 521-2903.

* The Waipahu Coalition’s annual Ohana Day is set for 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Pupuole Park, featuring a health fair, food, entertainment and service providers. Call 783-6682.

* The Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center plans its annual Tribute to the Spirit of Community benefit Oct. 21 at the Ihilani. Call 696-7093.

* Aloun Farms hosts its Pumpkin Patch Festival Oct. 21, 22, 28 and 29, as well as weekday tours, with proceeds benefitting Campbell High School’s agriculture program. Call 677-9516.

* The Nature Conservancy leads a 3-mile, moderate hike on Kaluaa Loop Trail in the Honouliuli Preserve from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21. Call 587-6220.

*Pearlridge Uptown Center Court is hosting a senior fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21 with information on health issues and active living as well as blood pressure testing and diabetes screening. Also Oct. 21, Ki Ho’alu Dreams entertains from 6 to 8 p.m.Downtown.Call 488-0981.

* The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club conducts a 6-mile, intermediate hike to Waimalu Ditch at 8 a.m. Oct. 22. Call 674-1459.

* Pearl City Library (1138 Waimano Home Rd.) hosts “What You Need to Know About the Aging of Your Eyes,” a free informational program, at 6 p.m. Oct. 23. Call 453-6566.

* Pearl City Neighborhood Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Pearl City Library. Call 527-5749.

* Waipahu Library offers free storytime, songs and activities at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays for keiki ages 3 to 5 on Oct. 24 and 31. Parents must accompany children. Call 675-0358.

* Kapolei Library (1020 Manawai St.) screens It’s Alive! The Return of Famous Monsters of Filmland as part of its rare films series at 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Call 693-7050. * The black-and-white photo exhibit My Voice from Waianae’s Women in Need participants is on display weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. now through Oct. 25, at Kapolei Hale.
