* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 at Home Depot Pearl City, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Kapolei Shopping Center, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Ewa Town Center Foodland and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 at Waipahu High School chorus room. * COLLEGE PLAN First Hawaiian Bank and Hawaii Association of College Admission Counseling offer a free college planning workshop at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at Campbell High School, including advice, materials, refreshments and giveaways.

* LIBRARY DANCE Tau Dance Theater blends Pacific Island traditions with modern dance in a free performance at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Kapolei Library. Call 693-7050.

* TRANSIT WORKSHOP The city’s rail transit team conducts a community workshop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 21 at Pearl Ridge Elementary School on the transit stations planned in Aiea and Pearl City. The Transit-Oriented Development Plan will focus on land uses and potential development of areas surrounding the LCC, Pearl Highlands and Pearlridge stations. Call 768-8284.

* HAUNTED VILLAGE Jeff Higa and Moira Maeda-Nakasone present plantation horror stories at 7 and 8:30 p.m. Oct. 21-22 at Haunted (Hawaii’s) Plantation Village. Tickets cost $10 in advance. * GAIA FILM Hawaii Okinawa Center screens Gaia Symphony No. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 (in English). The inspiring documentary featuring author James Lovelock, primatologist Jane Goodall, big wave surfer Gerry Lopez and wooden block print artist Bokunen Naka. Admission is $10. Call 738-3146.

* TRASHY TOUR The city’s Tour de Trash continues from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 22 with a visit to the H-Power plant, Waimanalo Gulch landfill, Hawaiian Earth Products, RRR Recycling Services, Schnitzer Steel and Refrigerant Recycling. Call 768-3200.

* STARGAZING Hawaiian Astronomical Society stages a public “star party” from sunset to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 at Waikele Community Park, 94-870 Lumiaina St. Call 551-1030.

* GEEK DAY Leeward Community College hosts Geek Day and Mactoberfest from 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24 featuring free workshops and presentations on computer technology topics (Mac and Windows), a camera flea market, door prizes and a lunchtime address by local filmmaker Tom Boyle.
