Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* HEAD START The state DOE conducts a Head Start Fair from 10 a.m. to noon March 16 at Pearlridge Center Uptown, along with a display by Kokua Ohana to recruit, train and support foster families. Call 488-0981.

* DANCE SIGNUPS The Pearlridge chapter of Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association registers students at 7 p.m. March 16, 23, 30 and April 6, 13 and 20 in Waimalu Elementary cafeteria for its first quarter American Social classes in bolero, West Coast swing and tango. * ROTARY SPEAKERS An update on Ilima at Leihano is set for 7:30 a.m. March 18 and Neil Abercrombie will speak March 25 during the Kapolei Rotary meeting in Kapolei High School faculty lounge. Call 630-8730.

* LIBRARY FURLOUGHS All public libraries are closed March 19 for staff furlough day and March 26 for Prince Kuhio Day. The Aiea branch also will close March 18.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 11:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 19 at Home Depot Kapolei; 7 to 9 a.m. March 19 at Hawaii Medical Center West and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 21 at Waikele Center. Call 845-9966.

* SWAP MEET Waipio Shopping Center hosts a community swap meet from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 20 in the parking lot near Jack in the Box, offering 35 booths for shoppers. Call 722-8487.

* MDA RACE Muscular Dystrophy Association sponsors its annual Honu Race at 9:30 a.m. March 20 at Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii water park. Buy $23 “honu adoption” tickets by March 17 at http://www.bgch.com or call 689-4182. Proceeds benefit Leeward Boys & Girls Clubs.

* WATER WEEK Subway Restaurant-Waipio observes World Water Week (March 21-27) by accepting contributions from customers for their servings of water and then donating the proceeds to UNICEF to provide clean drinking water in more than 90 countries.
