Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* RECYCLING SHOW Kapolei Library hosts the city’s touring display of recycling education during March, featuring its curbside program, episodes of the The Green Channel’s Opalavision, books, recycling carts, crafts, storytelling and workshops on “Garbology.“Call 693-7050.

* WATER WEEK Subway Restaurant-Waipio observes World Water Week (March 21-27) by accepting contributions from customers for their servings of water and then donating them to UNICEF for its worldwide clean drinking water project. For details on the Tap Project, call 469-4790.

* DANCE SIGNUPS The Pearlridge chapter of Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association registers students at 7 p.m. March 23, 30 and April 6, 13 and 20 in Waimalu Elementary cafeteria for its American Social classes in bolero, West Coast swing and tango. * LIBRARY CLOSURES All public libraries are closed March 26 in observance of Prince Kuhio Day.

* MCNIGHT WAIPAHU Waipahu Project Grad hosts a benefit from 4 to 8 p.m. March 26 at Waipahu McDonald’s with entertainment by Unique Blend. A portion of receipts go to Project Grad. * MANANA HIKE The Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club leads a 12-mile advanced hike to Pacific Palisades at 8 a.m. March 28. Go to http://www.htmclub.org.

* RAIL WORKSHOP The city presents a design workshop on its rail transit project from 6:30 to 9 p.m. March 30 at Highlands Intermediate School to discuss the Pearl Highlands station (along Kamehameha Highway across from Sam’s Club).It will have a 1,600 stall park-and-ride and a dedicated off-ramp from H-2.
