Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* FOOTBALL SIGNUPS

Kapolei Warriors Football Association registers players for its 2010 season from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays through June 6 (except May 29) at Kalaeloa Football Field. Teams will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Forms are available for download at http://www.eteamz.com/kapolei-warriors/. * BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26 at Nanakuli High School room C-113, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 at Pearl City High School, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 29 at Leeward Community College, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 29 at Tony Group Autoplex on Ka Uka Boulevard, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 1 at Pearlridge Center, and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m May 6 at Kapolei High School. * NEIGHBORS Pearl City Neighborhood Board meets at 6:30 p.m. April 27 at Waiau District Park, and the Makakilo-Kapolei-Honokai Hale board meets at 7 p.m. April 28 in Kapolei High cafeteria. Call 768-3710.


 

* SOCCER SIGNUPS Leeward AYSO 269 registers youths age 5-19 at Nanakuli Boys & Girls Club from 5 to 8 p.m. April 28, and at Kapolei Middle School from noon to 4 p.m. May 1. The region covers Ewa Beach to the Waianae Coast. Call 456-3740.

* PAIN TALK Kaiser’s Waipio Clinic sponsors a free Senior Summit lecture on “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” at 10 a.m. April 28 at 94-1480 Moaniani St. The public is welcome. Call 432-2235.

* COP ON TOP The annual Special Olympics benefit, Cop on Top, is planned for 6 a.m. April 29 through 2 p.m. May 1 at the Waimalu Safeway. Come by and donate to SO by supporting the police officers on the roof. Call 943-8808.

* DEBRIS ART Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii has posted student paintings and drawings through April 30 at the Waipahu and Ewa Beach libraries on the impact of marine debris. The displays feature art by students from Campbell and Waipahu high schools, Island Pacific Academy, Alvah Scott Elementary and several others.

* PAU HANA SHOW Leeward Community College presents its end-of-semester “Pau Hana” show from the drama and dance students at 7 p.m. April 30 in the college theater. Admission is free to the public. Call 455-0385.


* STORM OUT WEST Star Wars Stormtroopers and other costumed characters invade Kapolei and Aiea public libraries from 10 to 11:30 a.m. May 1 during Free Comic Book Day, going on at nine Hawaii libraries. Readers can choose from a variety of titles to get their free comic book, while supplies last. Call Kapolei (693-7050) or Aiea (483-7333).

* XERISCAPE GIFTS Halawa Xeriscape Garden plans a Mother’s Day Tillandsia Surprise workshop from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 1 at 99-1268 Iwaena St. Fee is $15. Participants will craft a one-of-a-kind ornamented plant for moms. Call 748-5363 by April 29.

* BOOK SIGNING Honolulu author and former chef Susan Yuen signs copies of her new book, Hawaii’s Bento Box Cookbook, at 2 p.m. May 2 at Borders Waikele, 1 p.m. May 8 at Borders Pearlridge and 1 p.m. May 9 at Costco Waipio. Call 732-1709.
