Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* Kaleiopuu Elementary School hosts a family night Nov. 29 with crafts, readings and a reptile exhibit, and a Scholastic Book Fair Nov. 27-Dec. 1. Call 675-0266 for details.

* The Makakilo-KapoleiHonokai Hale Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Kapolei High School cafeteria. Call 527-5749.

* The 2050 Sustainability Task Force meets at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in Kapolei Middle School cafeteria to hear public comments on the best future for the state. Call 585-7931, ext. 101.


* LCC Theatre presents Matato’a at 8 p.m. Dec. 1, featuring a fusion of Rapa Nui traditions with Polynesian and modern dance and music. Tickets are $30 and $26. Call 455-0385.

* The Nature Conservancy leads a moderate, interpretive hike into the Honouliuli Preserve along the Palikea Trail from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 2. Call 587-6220.

* The Pearl City Shopping Center Christmas Parade starts at 4 p.m. Dec. 3 at Momilani Elementary School and winds down to the shopping center. Call Iona at 593-1553.

* The Leeward Dance Stars will perform at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 and 10 at Pearlridge Center (uptown, second level). Call 488-0981.

* Waipahu Library (94-275 Mokuola St.) offers free storytime, songs and activities at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 5 for keiki ages 3 to 5. Parents must accompany children. Call 675-0358.


* Pearlridge Center presents musical “Classics"from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturdays, with Richard Wells booked for Dec. 2 in Downtown’s center court.Also at Pearlridge, the Holomua Elementary School chorus performs at 1 p.m. Dec. 3, and the Pearl City Elementary School chorus sings at 7 p.m Dec. 6. * The Hawaii Blood Band conducts donor drives from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Calvary Chapel West Oahu, 91-938 Fort Weaver Road, and from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m Dec. 6 at Kapolei High School. Call 845-9966.

* The state Board of Education holds a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Waiau Elementary School cafeteria to hear residents’ concerns and give an update on policies and budget issues.Call 586-3349.

* Hawaii Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker Dec. 9-17 at Leeward Community College theater. Call the box office at 455-0385.

* Kapolei Shopping Center presents “Santa Saturday” Dec. 9 with free craft activities, entertainment, prizes and promotions throughout the day.Cash donations and canned food will be accepted. Call 262-8556.

* Kapolei’s West Oahu Holiday Electric Light Parade starts at Kapolei Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 and ends at Kapolei Hale for a tree lighting ceremony attended by Mayor Mufi Hannemann. There will also be food and entertainment. Call Patty at 527-5759.

* The Waipahu Christmas parade starts at 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at Waipahu District Park and ends at Leolua Street behind Waipahu Town Center. Call Bryan at 676-4301.

* The U.S. Small Business Administration holds free consultations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at Oahu Worklinks in Waipahu (94-275 Mokuola St. #302). Call 541-2983.

* A deaf and signing Santa offers deaf and hard-of-hearing keiki a chance to share their holiday wishes in a 15th annual celebration from 9 a.m. to noon at Pearlridge Center (Uptown, second level). Call 488-0981.

* Kapolei Library hosts a series of free storytimes through Dec. 16. Toddler storytime (ages 2-3) is 10 a.m. Mondays and preschool storytime is 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Call 693-7050.

* Pearl City Library offers pre-school storytimes Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 13. Puzzletimes are Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 14. Call 453-6566.

* The Pearlridge Express at Pearlridge Center, Uptown Center Court gives daily rides to keiki through Jan. 1. Call 488-0981.
