Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Kapolei High School, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 31 at Pearl City High School, 11:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 3 at Home Depot Kapolei and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Pearlridge Center. Call 845-9966.

* SALSA Son Caribe plays from 9 p.m. Sept. 1 and 8 at Panama Hattie’s in Aiea. Call 485-8226.

* EWAA TOWN HALL State Rep. Kymberly Pine sponsors a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at Asing Park to air concerns with officials in a public forum, since Ewa Neighborhood Board’s August and September meetings have been canceled. Call 586-9730.

** SPECIAL OLYMPICS Tesoro’s Kapolei and Pearl City gas stations accept donations to Hawaii Special Olympics Sept. 1-Oct. 5 in its islandwide “Fueling Dreams” campaign to support the SO Holiday Classic. Those who give at least $5 will be entered in a drawing for $500 fuel cards. Call 943-8808.

* CLOSURES All public schools and libraries close Sept. 4-6 for Labor Day.

* IPU WORKSHOP Artist and conservationist Mahi LaPierre leads a workshop on making and playing traditional Hawaii instruments from 9:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 4 at Malama Learning Center at Kapolei High School. * QUILT PROJECT Pacific Aviation Museum hosts the Home of the Brave Quilt Project from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 6 with paid admission. Call 441-1000.

* CAJUN MUSICC The Red Stick Ramblers entertain Sept. 10 at Leeward Community College. For details, call 455-0385.

* TOUR DE TRASH H The city’s next Tour de Trash is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 on “Recycled Products.” The tour starts and ends at Kapolei Hale, visiting area sites for tire-shredding, green waste processing, glasphalt batching, cooking oil conversion and paper-to-mulch processing. * TASTE AT KAPOLEI Tickets are on sale now for the Sept. 18 Taste at Kapolei at Ko Olina Resort, benefiting Rotary Club scholarships. The gala has food, wine and entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m. at the fourth lagoon. Tickets cost $75 in advance, $90 at the door and $35 for children ages 7-12. For details, visit tasteatkapolei.com.
