Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at Kaiser’s Waipio Clinic, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 18 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on North Road and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at Waikele Center. Call 845-9966.

* NEIGHBORS Aiea Neighborhood Board meets at 7:30 p.m Sept. 13 at Aiea Library, and MakakiloKapolei-Honokai Hale meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 at Kapolei High cafeteria. all 768-3710.

* AG CONFERENCE The Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawaii presents the 2010 Hawaii Agriculture Conference Sept. 23 and 24 at Ihilani Hotel, featuring speakers, trade show exhibits, workshops and farm tours. Deadline to register is Sept. 15. Call 947-2914.

* WAIAU BRIDGE The city Department of Planning and Permitting has a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at Manana Community Park regarding a special management area use permit for HECO to construct a utility bridge at Waiau power plant. Call 768-8025.

* RECYCLING Pearl City High School has an Aloha Aina Earth Day Recycling Drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 18, when all kinds of materials are welcome. Call 306-1876.

* SUNDAY MUSIC Pineapple Squeeze entertains at 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at Pearlridge Uptown, followed by Halau Hula mai ka Pu’uwai a ka Mana’o at 2:30. Call 488-0981.

* TOUR DE TRASH The city’s next Tour de Trash is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 on “Recycled Products.” The tour starts and ends at Kapolei Hale, visiting area sites for tire-shredding, green waste processing, glasphalt batching, cooking oil conversion and paper-to-mulch processing. * PC HOMECOMING Pearl City High School has its homecoming parade at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 17, marching from the school stadium through the community to Pacheco Neighborhood Park. Call 453-6513.

* TASTE AT KAPOLEI The Sept. 18 gala, Taste at Kapolei, is open from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ko Olina Resort’s fourth Lagoon with food, wine and entertainment. Tickets cost $75 in advance, $90 at the door and $35 for children ages 7 to 12. The annual event benefits Kapolei Rotary Club scholarships. Call 545-2772 or go to tasteatkapolei.com.

* AUTUMN MATSURI Hawaii Okinawa Center hosts its Autumn Okinawa Dance Matsuri from 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 18, featuring live music, food and the largest and last indoor bon dance of the season. Call 676-5400.

* PRIVATE SCHOOLS Hawaii Association of Independent Schools has an admissions fair for all grades from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at Hawaii Okinawa Center in Waipio. Call 973-1540.

* DIET TALK Kaiser Permanente hosts a free public Senior Summit lecture on “Juggling Diets” at 10 a.m. Sept. 22 at its Waipio Clinic, 94-1480 Moaniani St. Call 432-2235.

* SHAKESPEARE The Performing Arts Center of Kapolei presents its final staging of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing (as you’ve never seen it before) at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the high school Forum. Tickets cost $6. Call 224-5314.

* MEET THE AUTHOR Local author Juliet S. Kono reads from and discusses her newest book, Anshu, at 11 a.m. Sept. 25 at Kapolei Library. A Q&A follows the program, which is suitable for ages 12 and up. Call 693-7050.

* CANCER CAMPAIGN Big City Diner in Aiea and Waipio (and elsewhere on Oahu) are accepting donated loose change throughout September for the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation drive. Look for the labeled canisters. Call 528-5161.

* SPECIAL OLYMPICS Tesoro’s Kapolei and Pearl City gas stations welcome donations to Special Olympics Hawaii through Oct. 5 as part of an island-wide “Fueling Dreams” campaign for the SO Holiday Classic in December. Those who give at least $5 will be entered in a drawing for a $500 fuel card. Call 943-8808.

* COLLECTION DRIVE Hawaii Self Storage at Pearl City (98-138 Hila Place) and Kapolei (488 Kamokila Blvd.) welcome donations for Ho’omalu O Na Kamali’i, a children’s receiving home on the Leeward Coast. Needed are new clothing, blankets, towels, sports equipment, shoes, slippers, toys, school supplies, backpacks and arts and crafts. Call 521-9531, ext 224.

* THE PEARL LCC’s on-campus restaurant The Pearl is open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday through Dec. 3. A Chef Showcase dinner will be held Nov. 12, and student menus will be featured Oct. 6-8 and Dec. 1-3. The restaurant will be closed Oct. 13-15, 20-22 and 26, and Nov. 10-12 and 24-26.
