Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* ROTARY SPEAKER ‘Olelo Community Media president/CEO Keali’i Lopez is guest speaker at Rotary Club of Kapolei Sunset’s meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at Roy’s Ko Olina. * FLU CLINIC The Aiea Safeway has a flu shot clinic from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 27, and Kapolei Safeway has shots from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1.

* NEIGHBORS The Pearl City Neighborhood Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Waiau District Park. Call 768-3710.

* LIBRARY REOPENS Pearl City Library is expected to reopen Sept. 28, following air-conditioning renovations. For updates, call 453-6566.


* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at Tony Group Autoplex, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 2 at Pearlridge Center by Tilt and from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 9 at St. Jude Catholic Church on Makakilo Drive. Call 845-9966.

* JA GOLF Kapolei Golf Course hosts a benefit tour-ney for Junior Achievement at 11 a.m. Sept. 30, sponsored by Finance Factors. To register, call 545-1777.

* TESORO HELP Tesoro Hawaii employees and law enforcement officers pump gas and wash windshields from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Kapolei and Pearl City Tesoro gas stations to benefit Special Olympics Hawaii. Donations are welcome.

* HOMECOMING Waipahu High School has its homecoming parade from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 1, moving down several adjacent streets with 400 marchers, a band and other vehicles. Call 675-0123.

* SCHOOL CLOSURES Hawaii public schools are closed for fall intersession Oct. 1 through 8.

* SWAP MEET Kapolei High Project Grad has a swap meet and canned food drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 2 in the school parking lot. Stall fee is $15 general or $25 for businesses. Also planned is a Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the cafeteria. Registration starts at 10 a.m. and costs $5. Call 692-8200, ext. 2246.

* SUNDAY MUSIC Po’okela entertains at 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at Pearlridge Uptown, followed by Halau Hula O Nawahine at 2:30. Call 488-0981.

* GODDESS DRAMA Tau Dance Theater presents Poli’ahu - Goddess of Maunakea at 8 p.m. Oct. 8 at Leeward Community College Theatre, retelling the story of the snow goddess and her sisters. Tickets cost $30, $26 and $20. Call 455-0381.

* CANCER CAMPAIGN Big City Diner in Aiea, Waipio and elsewhere on Oahu accept donated loose change throughout September for the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation drive. Look for the labeled canisters. Call 528-5161.

* CANSTRUCTION Entries in the 2010 Canstruction competition are on view for public voting through Oct. 3 at Pearlridge Center Uptown. Call 545-4242.

* SPECIAL OLYMPICS Tesoro’s Kapolei and Pearl City gas stations welcome donations to Special Olympics Hawaii through Oct. 5 as part of its islandwide “Fueling Dreams” campaign to support the SO Holiday Classic in December. Those who give at least $5 will be entered in a drawing for a $500 fuel card. Call 943-8808.

* DOG ADOPTIONS Hawaii Dog Foundation conducts adoptions at PETCO from noon to 2 p.m. Sundays in Pearl City. Call 782-8387.
