Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* BOARD The Ewa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. March 8 at Ewa Beach Library. Call 527-5749.

* BLOOD The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts a donor drive from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 8 in the Ihilani hotel’s Malolo Room. Call 845-9966.


* MUSICAL Kapolei High senior Shevelle Chambers performs in Disney’s High School Musical on stage at Nanakuli High School. Remaining shows are at 7 p.m. March 9 and 10. Tickets are $8 presale, $10 at the door, $5 for students, and $3 for under 12. Call 668-5823 ext. 351.

* ON STAGE Kaipo Asing Trio performs at 1 p.m. March 11, followed by Na Kupuna O Minerva Pang’s Hula Halau at 2:30 at Pearlridge Uptown. Call 488-0981.

* ORCHIDS The Kunia Orchid Society holds its spring orchid show March 9-11 in the Kunia gym, the last year it will be held there. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Call 623-8585.

* AUTHOR Award-winning Filipino writer and lecturer R. Zamora Linmark signs copies and reads from his work at 2 p.m. March 10 at Borders Waikele.

* ATHLETIC FUNDRAISER The West Oahu Athletic Girls Volleyball Club holds a benefit garage sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 10 at Kapolei Recreational Park. Call 723-9752.


* FIRE SAFETY UH fire safety program manager Irineo Gappe Jr. discusses safety in home and office at 4:30 p.m. March 11 in the FilCom Center courtyard in Waipahu. Call 521-1452.

* SHORELINE PERMIT Public comment is due March 12 on a shoreline setback variance permit to retain a 16-foot seawall at a residential property located at 91-529 Pupu St. in Ewa Beach. Call 527-5349.

* WAIPIO ZONING Public comment is due March 13 on a zone change request from Core Realty to build a commercial center at Waipio Gentry Business Park. Call 527-6070.

* ART Winners of the 2006 Earth Month Photo and Video Contest are on view from March 13 to April 3 at Kapolei Hale Courtyard.

* SWAPPERS Waipio Center seeks participants for its annual Community Swap Meet, set for March 27. Deadline is March 14 to reserve a booth. Call Sherry Goya at 722-8487.

* MAKUA Two studies regarding the Makua Military Reservation are available for public comment at the Pearl City, Waianae, Wahiawa and state libraries. Comments are due by April 3. Call 655-8729.

* BOOKS Borders Waikele hosts three monthly reading groups: Bestsellers at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday; Romance Readers Anonymous at 6:30 p.m. on the second Thursday; and International Women’s Writing Guild at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday. Call 676-6699.
