Below are highlights of what’s happening in the West Oahu community in the next few weeks.

* The 12th annual benefit golf tournament for Hale Pono Boys & Girls Club in Ewa Beach is set for June 16 at the Hawaii Prince Golf Club. Call 689-4182.

* Patricia Kirita Nomura and Jane Kurahara present “Life in an Internment Camp” at 1 p.m. June 17 at Kapolei Library (693-7050).

* Ewa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple holds its bon dance at 7:30 p.m. June 17 at 91-1133 Renton Road. Call 677-4331.


* Emmy award-winning storyteller Bobby Norfolk performs June 19 in West Oahu - at 10:30 a.m. at Kapolei Library (693-7050) and 1:30 p.m. at Pearl City Library (453-6566).

* The U.S. Small Business Administration offers two courses in Kapolei this month: “From Contracts to Cash,” 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 21 at Kapolei Hale, free (541-2983); and “Is Franchising for You?”, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. June 28 at Kapolei High School, fee is $20 for non-members of the West Oahu Economic Development Association. * Poetry slam champion Kealoha performs at 6:30 p.m. June 21 at Kapolei Library. Call 693-7050.

* Entry deadline is June 23 for the 2006 Firecracker Sprint Triathlon, set for 7 a.m. July 2 at Nimitz Beach at Barbers Point. Call 864-0113.


* Entry deadline is June 23 for the Iroquois Point Island Club Patriot 5K Run/Walk, set for 8 a.m. July 1 at the club. Proceeds benefit the U.S. Vets shelter. Call 864-0113.

* The Hawaii Blood Bank holds area donor drives from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 25 at Calvary Chapel West Oahu; and from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 27 at St. Francis Medical Center West. Call 845-9966.
