Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* PHOTOS A showcase from Kapolei High School photography students is on view June 5-14 in the Kapolei Hale courtyard.

* JAZZ Kapolei Library presents a free jazz concert with Aaron Hill at 6:30 p.m. June 6. Call 693-7050.

* GRADUATIONS Campbell High School’s graduation ceremony starts at 5:30 p.m. June 6 at Aloha Stadium; Aiea’s is at 6 p.m. June 8 at Aloha Stadium.


* HUMAN RIGHTS State Rep. Rida Cabanilla (Waipahu-Ewa) sponsors a human rights awareness program about the plight of Africa’s children at noon June 6 in the state Capitol auditorium. Call 586-6080.

* SPEAKERS The Ewa Toastmasters Club meets at 7 p.m. June 6 at Kahi Mohala on Fort Weaver Road. Also known as the Communication Club, members work on improving their public speaking, leadership and listening skills. The club meets each first and third Thursday. Call 343-1489.

* PALISADES The Pacific Palisades Community Association meets at 7 p.m. June 6 at its community center, 2106 Aamanu St. Call 455-5182.

* GOLF Ko Olina Golf Club hosts a women’s clinic at 3 p.m. June 7, followed by wine tasting and pupus at 4:30 for Women’s Golf Week and to benefit the American Heart Association. Cost is $35. Call 677-5300.

* HEARING The city Planning and Permitting Department holds a public hearing at 1:30 p.m. June 7 in its eighth-floor conference room on South King Street to hear Easter Seals Society’s request for a zone change in Makakilo. The change would allow a proposed meeting facility to exceed the height limit. Call 768-8022.

* DAD’S ESSAYS Waipio Center judges entries in its Father’s Day essay contest on “Why my Dad Is so Special” at 10 a.m. June 7 and will post the winners.All merchants have entry forms.


* MORE ESSAYS Kunia Shopping Center judges entries in its Father’s Day essay contest at 10 a.m. June 8 on “Why I Love my Dad” and will post the winners. Entry boxes are at Planet Fun and Denny’s. Call 722-8487.

* ROBOTS The national touring show “Robots: The Interactive Exhibition” opens June 8 at Pearlridge, offering hands-on activities for all ages through Aug. 5 in both Uptown and Downtown center courts. Call 349-8221.

* BLOOD The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 8 a.m. to 3 pm. June 9 at Leeward Community College; from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 at Calvary Chapel in Aiea; from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 10 at Waikele Center (by Leonard’s Malassadas); and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11 at Times Kunia.
