Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

July

* DANCE PARTY Music from the ‘80s to current hits will play at the Sugar Hill dance party at Lily Koi Lounge from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. July 3. Age 21 and over (the $10 entrance donation will benefit Musical Youth of Hawaii). Call 479-3008.

* PEARL CITY BALLROOM The Pearl City chapter of the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association holds registration on July 3 and 10 for classes in East Coast Swing, Peabody and Bolero at Manana Elementary School Cafeteria. Lessons will be held Tuesdays from 7 to 9:10 p.m. for this 10-week summer course. Fees apply. Call 456-2129 or 689-6374.


* PEARLRIDGE BALLROOM The Pearlridge chapter of the Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association holds registration July 3,10 and 17 for classes in East Coast Swing, Peabody and Bolero at Waimalu Elementary School Cafeteria (98-825 Moanalua Road). Lessons will be held Tuesdays from 7 to 9:10 p.m. July 3 through Sept. 11. Fees apply. Call 836-4579 or 488-3935.

* SAFE DRIVING The AARP Driver Safety Program is offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 5 and 6 at the Kaiser Waipio Clinic. Fee is $10. Call 432-2260.

* FREE MEALS The Summer Food Service Program offers free meals to children under 19 Monday through Friday (except July 4) from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. through July 6 at Ewa Beach Elementary; 10:40 to 11 a.m. through July 7 at Kaimiloa Elementary; and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. through July 13 at Pohakea Elementary. * ADAPTIVE SURFING AccesSurf Hawaii hosts a day of adaptive surfing and shoreline flotation/swimming for those with muscular dystrophy, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 7 at White Plains Beach Park. Volunteers meet at 8 a.m. Call 593-4454.

* POETRY TOUR Award-winning poet Glenis Redmond presents “Word Power: Poetry for Kids of all Ages” at 2:30 p.m. July 7 at Aiea Library. Call 483-7333.

* BLOOD DRIVES The Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 7 at Pearlridge Uptown; 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 15 at Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor; and 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 22 at Waikele Center (by Leonard’s Malasadas). Call 845-9966.

* NEIGHBORS The Aiea Neighborhood Board meets at 7:30 p.m. July 9 at Aiea Library; Ewa meets at 7 p.m. July 12 at Ewa Beach Library. Pearl City meets at 6:30 p.m. July 24 in the Highlands Intermediate School cafeteria. Call 527-5749.

* PET CARE Pearl City Library (1138 Waimano Home Road) hosts a program by the Hawaiian Humane Society, with a talk by Billie Lueder on being a responsible pet owner at 1 p.m. July 9. Children are invited to to help the Hawaiian Humane Society by bringing old newspapers, empty shoe boxes, paper shopping bags with handles and recyclable cans and bottles. For ages 3 and up. * DRUG FUNDS The Hawaii Community Foundation hosts an information meeting on grants for crystal meth and tobacco prevention and treatment projects from 8 a.m. to noon July 11 in the Kapolei High School teachers dining room. Interested nonprofit groups are welcome. Call 566-5554.

* ORCHID SHOW The annual Ewa Orchid and Plant Show and sale will happen at Ewa Elementary School on Renton Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13 to 15. Call 239-6639.

* BON DANCE The Waipahu Hongwanji Buddhist Temple holds its bon dance at 7:30 p.m. July 13 and 14 at 94-821 Kuhaulua St. Call 677-4221.

* AIEA HIKE The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 5-mile intermediate hike to Aiea’s Kalauao Valley at 8 a.m. July 14. Go to www.htmclub.org

* READING Kapolei Library (1020 Manawai St.) conducts an adult summer reading program with prize drawings for folks 19 and older through July 14. Call 693-7050.

* HEART HEALTH Kaiser Permanente presents a free Senior Summit lecture on July 25 at its Waipio clinic on “The Art of Energy.” Call 432-2235.

* BOX CAR TRACK The Kunia Box Car Track offers free youth programs from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday through July 27, for children age 9 and older next to the Kunia Park and Ride lot. Call 947-3393.
